Quality Fence Installation Tips from Superior Fence & Rail
Homeowners Association Fence Approvals
Homeowners Associations (or H-O-A’s), restrict the type, height, and placement of fencing in a community. Homeowners must submit their fence plans to an architectural review committee, including:
- a copy of the fence plan
- a property survey
- and a specification for the type of fence.
Architectural committees consist of homeowners from the neighborhood. If an H-O-A uses a management company that company is part of the review process.
The fees for architectural review can range from $25-$50, and some H-O-As require homeowners to submit a retainer deposit. Retainer deposits can be up to $500 and are withheld until the fence passes inspection. Fines for non-compliance are solely the responsibility of the homeowner, and if left unpaid can result in liens on the property. That’s why H-O-A compliance is an important step before starting a fence project. Some of our offices provide customers with direct assistance with the H-O-A process.
